A major national charity currently has a vacancy for a Head of Communications. Managing a team of 4 and reporting to Director level, this is an excellent opportunity for a Communications Manager or Communications Officer ready for to take their career to the next level.

The role

This role comes at a time of positive change in the organisation. There is renewed investment in communications and a scaling up of the communication function.

 Duties (in brief): 

  • Lead the communications strategy and communications department to achieve the strategic objectives
  • Lead the communications strategy across Public Relations, Communications, Social Media and Digital Strategies.
  • Build profile and awareness for the organisation
  • Act as brand guardian and ensure all external communications materials are of the highest quality
  • Re-develop a strong digital presence
  • Work closely the Advocacy team to maximise effectiveness of public affairs projects
  • Plan, manage and report on a communications budget which will deliver on the communications department objectives
  • To manage communications projects as required by the Director /CEO.

The Person

  • Minimum five years or more communications experience
  • Ability to build excellent media relationships
  • Experience of digital and social media, analytics, tools and trends
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector would be an advantage but not essential
